Valve erroneously VAC banned several thousand Modern Warfare 2 accounts over the past week due to an error or some such. In addition to unbanning those accounts, they've given each affected player a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 (if they didn't already own it) and a second copy to gift to a friend.

Sometimes companies do a really good job on console ports, such as the first Assassin's Creed for the PC which arguably has better controls for Mouse and Keyboard than the gamepad. Not so with Saint's Row 2. Although the game itself is passable on the PC it has major issues on Windows 7 systems, issues what Volition, makers of the game, were unwilling to address.

Two members of the Saint's Row 2 PC Modding community have come to the rescue releasing a patch for the game that, in addition to fixing the Windows 7 speedup issue, also adds a bunch of new content to the game.

Download the installation package. The installer will ask for the Installation Directory, select the Enemy Territory – Quake Wars folder. Wait until the extraction process is complete. You will now have a Desktop icon which you can use to run the game.
If you have the Steam version of the game the Desktop icon will not work, you may remove it. You will have to add a Steam Launch item by pressing the “Add non-Steam game…” button. Locate etqw.exe in your ETQW installation folder and add it to your list. Select the list item and go to properties, and add these launch parameters:
+set fs_game twars
You can now use this launch item to start the game.

The Tribal Wars mod (a Tribes recreated off of Quake Wars) will be released within days according to the mod team. Watching the gameplay video it looks as though they captured the gameplay of Tribes 1 and 2 perfectly. I can't wait for this mod to be released.

Wow, so this mod isn't dead. Tribes is probably my favorite game of all time, so the news that this ETQW mod is still in development is good news for me.
